What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?

A continuing care retirement community (often referred to as a CCRC) is a blend of several options--part housing complex, part activity center and part health care system. A CCRC differs from other retirement options by providing a continuum of housing, services and health care. There is a written agreement between the resident and the CCRC that is generally intended to last the resident's lifetime or for a specific period. Wesley Homes Des Moines follows this model.

Why is Wesley Homes a not-for-profit organization?

Wesley Homes is a mission-driven organization that devotes its resources toward innovative and quality care for its residents. Not-for-profit retirement communities have a rich history of serving the nation's older adults, often with innovative approaches to managing the care of the people they serve. Wesley Homes strives to serve residents in the most independent setting as possible and believes that services should be tailored to individual needs through a network of services offering a continuum of care--including choices in senior housing, supportive services, in-home care, and nursing and medical care.
